How to choose the right one
-
Check the mount type
Decide if you need a fixed or mobile unit. The Fire Sense 02678 uses an offset stand with wheels, allowing you to move it around your patio. This is ideal for repositioning heat where needed. In contrast, the Fire Sense 60460 mounts directly to a wall. This saves floor space but requires permanent installation. Choose the offset model for flexibility. Select the wall mount for a permanent, space-saving solution in a sheltered area. Your setup dictates this choice.
-
Review the wattage
Both listed heaters operate at 1500W. This is a standard output for electric patio heaters. It provides sufficient infrared warmth for small to medium outdoor areas. You do not need to compare different wattage levels here since both options match. However, ensure your electrical outlet can handle this load. A 1500W device draws significant current. Verify your circuit capacity before pl in either unit. This spec ensures consistent heating performance without tripping breakers during use.
-
Consider the weight
Weight affects mobility and stability. The offset heater weighs 45 pounds. It includes wheels to help you reposition it, but it is still heavy. You need a firm surface to prevent tipping. The wall-mounted unit weighs only 8.75 pounds. It is much lighter because it does not have a base. This makes installation easier on the wall structure. If you plan to move the heater often, the wheeled model is suitable. For a fixed spot, the lighter wall unit is sufficient.
-
Look at safety features
Safety is critical for outdoor electric heaters. The Fire Sense 02678 includes tip-over protection. This feature automatically shuts off the heater if it falls. This is vital for a mobile unit with wheels. It prevents fires if the heater is knocked over by wind or people. The wall-mounted 60460 does not list this specific feature in its data. Ensure you mount it securely to avoid accidents. Always prioritize units with automatic shutoff mechanisms for peace of mind.
-
Check included accessories
Some heaters come with protective covers. The Fire Sense 02678 includes a protective cover. This helps shield the steel body from rain and debris when not in use. It extends the life of the heater. The wall-mounted 60460 data does not mention a cover. You may need to purchase one separately or store it indoors. Check the product listing for included accessories. This adds value and reduces long-term maintenance costs for your outdoor equipment.
